IN RE: | HB3125 by Lucio III (Relating to route designation for the issuance of a permit for the movement of oversize and overweight vehicles in certain counties.), As Engrossed |
The bill would amend provision in the Transportation Code relating to route designation for the issuance of a permit by the Port of Brownsville for the movement of oversize and overweight vehicles to include additional highways on which the permitted vehicles could carry cargo.
Under current law, the port issues permits and collects permit fees for the movement of certain oversize/overweight vehicles on specified state highways. The revenue from the permits, after deductions for administrative costs, may only be used for maintenance and improvement of those state highways. Based on the information provided by the Texas Department of Transportation, it is assumed any duties associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.
