IN RE: | HB3203 by Creighton (Relating to design-build procedures for certain civil works projects.), As Introduced |
The bill would amend the Government Code, Chapter 2267 to require governmental entities to select design build firms for construction projects in a one-step or two-step process and defines the criteria related to each option.
The bill takes effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If the bill does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, it takes effect September 1, 2013.
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
Based on information provided by several community colleges, it is anticipated that any additional costs to community colleges could be absorbed through existing resources. Based on the analysis of the Texas Education Agency, no significant administrative costs for school districts are anticipated.
