IN RE:
HB3285 by Davis, Yvonne (Relating to the reporting of health care associated infections.), As Engrossed
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Chapter 98 of the Health and Safety Code, relating to the reporting of health care associated infections. Under the provisions of the bill, facilities that report on Health Care Associated Infections would be required to include information on the death of a patient associated with reported infections. This would only apply to reporting periods beginning on or after March 1, 2014. The bill requires the Department of State Health Services' (DSHS) website to include this information from facilities. The bill requires the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) to adopt rules to implement the bill. Based on the analysis provided by DSHS and HHSC, it is assumed that the provisions of the bill can be implemented within existing resources.
Local Government Impact
No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
