IN RE:	HB3324 by Coleman (Relating to an offense committed against a person because of bias or prejudice on the basis of gender identity or expression.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure in relation to affirmative judicial findings of fact in certain criminal cases. The bill specifies that gender and identity expression are included among the group identifications that a judge is to consider when making a finding that a defendant intentionally selected a person against whom certain offenses were committed.

 

The Office of Court Administration does not anticipate any significant fiscal impact to the court system resulting from the bill. The change in law would apply only to an offense committed on or after the bill's effective date. The bill would take effect September 1, 2013.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
