No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would transfer certain authority related to the Texas Peace Officer’s Memorial from the Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (Commission) to the State Preservation Board (Board). Transferred responsibilities would include maintenance of historical and archival records of inducted officers and jailers; establishment of rules and procedures for adding names to the Memorial; and the authority to contract with a public or private entity to raise funds for the maintenance and improvement of the memorial. It is anticipated that any additional costs associated with implementation of the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.
