FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 15, 2013

TO:
Honorable René Oliveira, Chair, House Committee on Business & Industry

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3576 by Fallon (Relating to the application of the law of this state to certain Internet contracts.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Business and Commerce Code to provide that a contract is governed by the laws of Texas if a party to the contract is located in Texas and any party to the contract not located in Texas receives notice that the contract is governed by this state's laws and agrees to the application of Texas laws. It is assumed that the Office of the Attorney General would need to update agency training material and guidelines; however, it is anticipated that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.
