IN RE:
HB3615 by Burnam (Relating to notification to the county judge and county emergency responders of the transportation of certain radioactive waste in the county.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend Chapter 401 of the Health and Safety Code relating to notification to the county judge and county emergency responders of the transportation of certain radioactive waste in the county. Under the provisions of the bill, the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) is required to adopt rules requiring that a transporter of radioactive material for certain hazardous materials notify the county judge and the appropriate emergency responders of each county through which the material will pass no less than four days before the arrival of the waste in the county. Based on the analysis provided by DSHS and the University of Texas System, it is assumed that the provisions of the bill can be implemented within existing resources.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
