FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 23, 2013

TO:
Honorable Lois W. Kolkhorst, Chair, House Committee on Public Health

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
HB3731 by Coleman (Relating to the date of a hearing on an application for an order to authorize psychoactive medication for a person receiving inpatient mental health services.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Chapter 574 of the Health and Safety Code relating to the date of a hearing on an application for an order to authorize psychoactive medication for a person receiving inpatient mental health services.  The bill would require certain deadlines for the hearing on the application for court-ordered psychoactive medications. Based on the analysis provided by the Department of State Health Services and the Office of Court Administration, it is assumed that the provisions of the bill can be implemented within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
