No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated, other than the cost of publication.

The cost to the state for publication of the resolution is $108,921.


The resolution proposes a constitutional amendment to Article I Section 34 of the Texas Constitution to limit the state's authority to collect, receive, store or share certain personal financial information. The resolution stipulates the state may not collect, receive, store or share the personal financial information of an individual unless; (1) the information is provided by the individual or a person related to the individual or (2) the information is obtained for the purposes of performing an audit.
The resolution does not apply to to the collection, receipt, or storage of financial information for the purposes of enforcing criminal, child support or tax laws nor does it apply to financial information provided by an individual for the purposes of obtaining a benefit, privilege, office, employment or entering into a transaction with this state or an agency of this state.
