SB117 by Hinojosa (Relating to the right of a spouse to enter the marital residence accompanied by a peace officer under certain circumstances.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Family Code relating to the right of a spouse to enter the marital residence accompanied by a peace officer under certain circumstances to remove certain items described in the bill. The Office of Court Administration indicates that the bill will not result in a significant fiscal impact to the operation of the court system.

The bill would take effect September 1, 2013.


Local Government Impact

Having peace officers accompany a spouse to assist with the entry of the marital residence and removal of specific items would have some fiscal impact on local law enforcement but it is not expected to be significant.

The Houston Police Department reported no anticipated fiscal impact associated with the bill.
