TO: | Honorable John Whitmire, Chair, Senate Committee On Criminal Justice |
FROM: | Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board |
IN RE: | SB345 by Whitmire (Relating to the abolition of the state boot camp program.), As Introduced |
The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure and the Government Code regarding the state boot camp program. Under the provisions of the bill, Article 42.12, Section 8, of the Code of Criminal Procedure and Government Code, Section 499.052, would be repealed and the state boot camp program would be abolished. Historically, the court placements into the state boot camp program have been a relatively low number, therefore no significant fiscal implication to the state is anticipated. The bill would take effect September 1, 2013.
