TO:
Honorable David Dewhurst, Lieutenant Governor, Senate

FROM:

IN RE:
SB377 by Lucio (Relating to the determination of certain exemptions from the administration of state assessment instruments to public school students and to the consideration of the performance of certain students on state assessment instruments. ), As Passed 2nd House

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

For the purposes of determining whether a student is allowed an exemption or postponement of an assessment because the student recently enrolled in a school in the United States and is of limited English proficiency, the bill would prohibit the consideration of a school year if the student is enrolled in a school in the United States for a period of less than 60 consecutive days during a year.

Based on information provided by the Texas Education Agency, any costs related to implementing the provisions of the bill are not anticipated to be significant.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
