IN RE:
SB396 by Hegar (Relating to the provision of state death benefits to certain employees of the Department of Public Safety of the State of Texas.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to expand the eligibility of state death benefits to survivors of individuals employed by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) whose principal duties directly support a law enforcement function by the state or individuals with certain special assignments, as certified by the director.
