LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 11, 2013

TO:
Honorable Dan Branch, Chair, House Committee on Higher Education

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB490 by Seliger (Relating to the expiration of tuition equalization grant requirements for grants awarded before the 2005-2006 academic year.), As Engrossed

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill relates to the expiration of Tuition Equalization Grant requirements for grants awarded before the 2005-2006 academic year. Based on information provided by the Higher Education Coordinating Board, for fiscal year 2012, only a small number of students entered the program under the eligibility provisions prior to the 2005-2006 academic year. Therefore the impact of the bill would not be significant.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
