No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend Election code to require drug testing of a person elected to public elective office. The bill would require the Ethics Commission to release the results of the drug tests. The Secretary of State and Ethics Commission indicate that any costs associated with implementing the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.
 
The bill would take effect September 1, 2013.

Local Government Impact

Some local entities could be financially impacted depending on the size of the entity and number of persons. However, no significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
