FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
SB618 by Carona (Relating to the elimination of the licensing and registration requirements for ringside physicians and timekeepers for combative sports events.), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Occupations Code relating to the elimination of the licensing and registration requirements for ringside physicians and timekeepers for combative sports events.
The bill would remove the licensing requirement for approximately 49 timekeepers who pay a $30 annual license fee and 86 ringside physicians who pay a $25 annual license fee. As a result, there would be a corresponding revenue loss to the state, but based upon information provided by the Department of Licensing and Regulation and the Comptroller of Public Accounts, the resulting revenue loss would have no significant fiscal impact on the state. In addition, this analysis assumes that duties and responsibilities associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be covered within existing resources.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
