Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 15, 2013

TO:
Honorable Jane Nelson, Chair, Senate Committee On Health & Human Services

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB675 by Hancock (Relating to certain advance directives and health care and treatment decisions.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would modify Chapter 166 of the Health and Safety Code, relating to certain advance directives and health care and treatment decisions.  The Department of State Health Services has indicated that the bill would only require the agency to promulgate rules with the Health and Human Services Commission and that this could be carried out with existing resources. The bill will take effect immediately if it receives a vote of two-thirds of all members elected to each house; otherwise the Act takes effect September 1, 2013.

Local Government Impact

No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
