IN RE: | SB747 by Nelson (Relating to the term for the independent ombudsman for state supported living centers.), As Engrossed |
The bill amends Section 555.053, Health and Safety Code, to require the governor to appoint the independent ombudsman for state supported living centers for a two-year term, expiring February 1 of odd-numbered years. The person serving as independent ombudsman on the effective date of the Act shall serve as the independent ombudsman until February 1, 2015, unless otherwise removed by the Governor.
The Office of the Governor and Department of Aging and Disability Services indicate any cost to implement provisions of the bill would be minimal and can be absorbed within available resources.
