IN RE:
SB826 by Whitmire (Relating to the notification of a potential predator for civil commitment), As Introduced
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Health and Safety Code relating to the notification of a potential predator for civil commitment. Under the bill’s provisions, the required timeframe would be modified for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) or the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) to provide written notification to the multidisciplinary team as described by Health and Safety Code, Section 841.021. TDCJ, DSHS, and the Office of Violent Sex Offender Management have determined that the bill would not result in a significant fiscal impact to the State. The bill would take effect September 1, 2013.
