LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

March 26, 2013

TO:
Honorable Leticia Van de Putte, Chair, Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs & Military Installations

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB846 by Van de Putte (Relating to training, certification, and accreditation provided or regulated by the Texas Veterans Commission.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to require the Texas Veterans Commission coordinate with the Department of State Health Services to incorporate suicide prevention as a component in training and examination material provided to local county service officers. It is assumed that the Texas Veterans Commission and the Department of State Health Services would need to update agency training material, rules, and guidelines; however, it is anticipated that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
