FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 3, 2013

TO:
Honorable Dan Patrick, Chair, Senate Committee on Education

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB860 by Lucio (Relating to the provision of career and technology education courses in certain partnership programs to provide high school dropout recovery.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The provisions of the bill allow public junior colleges to partner with a public technical institute as part of a dropout recovery program curriculum for career and technology education courses that lead to industry or career certification. A public technical institute may receive an amount from the partnering public junior college for that partnership based on the amount negotiated.

Local Government Impact

Based on information provided by Western Texas College and McLennan Community College, it is assumed that any additional costs to Public Community and Junior Colleges could be absorbed through existing resources.
