IN RE: | SB969 by West (Relating to the electronic recording and admissibility of certain statements made by an accused as a result of custodial interrogation.), As Introduced |
The bill would amend the Code of Criminal Procedure to prohibit the admissibility of a written statement of an accused person without an electronic recording of the custodial interrogation. The bill also contains provisions regarding identification of persons involved in and the preservation of the electronic recording. The bill would take effect September 1, 2013. The Office of Court Administration does not anticipate a significant fiscal impact to the court system resulting from the bill. This analysis assumes the bill would not result in a significant fiscal impact to the state.
