LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas

FISCAL NOTE, 83RD LEGISLATIVE REGULAR SESSION

April 2, 2013

TO:
Honorable Leticia Van de Putte, Chair, Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs & Military Installations

FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board

IN RE:
SB1199 by Van de Putte (Relating to development of a pilot program of the Texas Veterans Commission to designate municipalities as Veteran and Military Friendly Cities.), As Introduced

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to authorize the Texas Veterans Commission to develop a pilot program to designate certain municipalities as Veteran and Military Friendly Cities. It is assumed that the Veterans Commission would need to create rules and guidelines for the program; however, it is anticipated that any costs associated with the bill could be absorbed within existing resources.

Local Government Impact

The bill would have some impact on municipalities that apply for the Veteran and Military Friendly Cities designation. However, costs would be discretionary and would not be significant.
