SB1509 by Seliger (Relating to college readiness and success.), As Engrossed
No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill amends Section 61, Education Code, to include college readiness standards to the definition of "applied STEM courses". It adds the phrase "or identify" programs as part of implementing the college readiness and success strategic action plan. The bill also modifies statute as it relates to applying credit earned by a student at a general academic teaching institution to an associate's degree at a lower-division institution of higher education previously attended by the student. Under provisions of the bill the cumulative total number of credit hours for course work successfully completed by the student would be lowered from 90 to 66. Provisions of the bill would be absorbed within existing resources.
