Honorable Dan Patrick, Chair, Senate Committee on Education
FROM:
Ursula Parks, Director, Legislative Budget Board
IN RE:
SB1541 by Van de Putte (Relating to discipline of public school students by school bus drivers.), Committee Report 1st House, Substituted
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would require that student codes of conduct specify the circumstances under which a student may be removed from a school bus. Any disciplinary placement for a student with a disability receiving special education services would be made by a admission, review, and dismissal (ARD) committee.
Local Government Impact
No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. School districts may be required to amend the student code of conduct to address behavior on a school bus.
