No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would require the Office of State-Federal Relations at the Office of the Governor (Office), in consultation with the Department of Public Safety (DPS), to work to enter into an agreement with the federal government to implement a border security strategy and authorizes certain activities under this agreement subject to the receipt of federal funds.

The bill would require the Office, in consultation with the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), to work to enter into an agreement with the federal government to authorize or grant a waiver for a pilot guest work program that is self-funding, and sets forth requirements for the program.

The Office of the Governor, DPS, and TWC all report there would be no fiscal impact to implement the provisions of the bill.
