Pursuant to a notice posted on August 14, 2014, the House Committee on Health Care Education & Training, Select met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative King, Susan, at 10:10 a.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives King, Susan; Bell; Clardy; Howard; Moody; Paddie; Raney; and Rodriguez, Justin.

 

A quorum was present.

 

 

 

The Chair recognized the following members for opening comments: Representative Clardy, Representative Bell, Representative Raney, Representative Moody, Representative Paddie and Representative Rodriguez for comments.

 

The Chair recognized Representative Raney to read into the record a statement from Representative Crownover who was not present.

 

The Chair read into the record a statement from Representative Guerra who was not present.

The committee discussed the current state of the health care workforce in Texas.
