Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 10, 2013, the House Committee on Higher Education met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Branch, at 1:35 p.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Branch; Alonzo; Darby; Howard; Martinez, "Mando"; and Raney.

 

A quorum was present.

The chair laid out SB 691, companion to HB 1486.

 

Representative Alonzo moved that SB 691, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

The chair laid out SB 1855, companion to HB 3899.

 

Representative Darby moved that SB 1855, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

Representative Martinez, "Mando" offered a complete committee substitute.

The chair recognized Representative Martinez, "Mando" to explain SB 24.

 

The committee substitute was withdrawn without objection.
