Pursuant to a notice posted on June 24, 2014, the House Committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Pickett, at 9:04 a.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Pickett; Fletcher; Dale; Flynn; Kleinschmidt; Lavender; and Simmons.

 

A quorum was present.

The committee heard invited testimony on the Texas Emergency Medical Task Force (EMTF) that is part of the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP).

The committee discussed draft legislation regarding the storage of ammonium nitrate and the authority of first responders to inspect and respond to safety concerns.

At 11:45 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting was recessed until 12:08 p.m., July 1, 2014.

 

The committee heard invited testimony on current border operations.
