Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Business & Commerce was held on Thursday, May 2, 2013, at Senator Carona's Desk.

The chair called the meeting to order at 1:54 PM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

At 1:54 PM Senator Taylor assumed the chair.

 

The chair laid out as a matter of pending business SB 241 by Senator Carona, which failed to receive a majority vote during the April 30th, 2013 hearing.  Senator Watson, being on the prevailing side of the vote on SB 241, moved to reconsider the vote by which SB 241 failed to be reported to the Senate;  without objection, the motion was adopted and SB 241 was again before the committee.

 

 

 

Senator Carona moved adoption of the committee substitute to SB 241; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

At 1:55 PM Senator Carona resumed the chair.

 

Senator Taylor moved that SB 241 do not pass but that CSSB 241 be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 5 ayes, 2 nays, 0 present not voting, and 2 absent.

 

The chair laid out as a matter of pending business SB 582.

 

Senator Lucio, Jr. moved adoption of the committee substitute to SB 582; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Lucio, Jr. moved that SB 582 do not pass but that CSSB 582 be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 6 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 3 absent.

 

There being no further business, at 1:56 PM Senator Carona moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
