Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Education was held on Monday, January 28, 2013, in the Senate Chamber.

A joint hearing of the Senate Committee on Education and the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Rural Affairs and Homeland Security was held.

 

Senator Patrick and Senator Estes, as Co-Chairs, shared presiding duties throughout the hearing.

 

Senator Estes called the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Rural Affairs and Homeland Security to order at 2:55 PM.

 

Senator Patrick called the Senate Committee on Education to order at 2:56 PM.  The following business was transacted:

 

Senator Patrick and Senator Estes made opening remarks to the committee.

 

The Co-Chairs called the following invited witnesses to provide testimony on School Safety.  See attached list.

 

Senator Patrick recognized Commissioner of Education, Michael L. Williams as being present and welcomed him.

 

The Co-Chairs called persons who registered as public witnesses to provide testimony on School Safety.  See attached list.

 

 The Co-Chairs moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

There being no further business, at 5:52 PM Senator Estes moved that the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Rural Affairs and Homeland Security stand recessed subject to the call of the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered. 

 

There being no further business, at 5:52 PM Senator Patrick moved that the Senate Committee on Education stand recessed subject to the call of the chair.  Without objection, it was so ordered.
