Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Finance was held on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Senator Williams' Desk.

The chair called the meeting to order at 3:18 PM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

Senator Williams moved to suspend Rule 9 of the Senate Finance Committee Rules so that the Committee could take up the subcommittee report for SB 835 before the 24 hour layout. There was no objection.

 

The subcommittee report on SB 475 was laid out by Senator Hegar. Senator Hegar was recognized to explain the subcommittee report on SB 475.

 

Senator Hegar moved that SB 475 be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 13 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 2 absent.

 

The subcommittee report on SB 835 was laid out by Senator Hegar. Senator Lucio was recognized to explain the subcommittee report on SB 835.

 

Senator Lucio, Jr. moved that SB 835 do not pass but that CSSB 835 be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 13 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 2 absent.

 

The subcommittee report on SB 1151 was laid out by Senator Hegar. Senator Hinojosa was recognized to explain the subcommittee report on SB 1151.

 

Senator Hinojosa moved that SB 1151 do not pass but that CSSB 1151 be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 13 ayes, 1 nay, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent.

 

The subcommittee report on SB 1508 was laid out by Senator Hegar. Senator Hegar was recognized to explain the subcommittee report on SB 1508.

 

Senator Hegar moved that SB 1508 do not pass but that CSSB 1508 be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 14 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent.

 

The subcommittee report on SB 1533 was laid out by Senator Hegar. Senator Hegar was recognized to explain the subcommittee report on SB 1533.

 

Senator Hegar moved that SB 1533 be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 14 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent.

 

The subcommittee report on SB 1598 was laid out by Senator Hegar. Senator Zaffirini was recognized to explain the subcommittee report on SB 1598.

 

Senator Zaffirini moved that SB 1598 do not pass but that CSSB 1598 be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 14 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent.

 

There being no further business, at 3:27 PM Senator Williams moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
