Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Finance was held on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Senator Williams' Desk.

The chair called the meeting to order at 5:00 PM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

Senator Hinojosa laid out SB 1 and SJR 1. The chair recognized the author, Senator Nichols, to explain the bills.

 

The chair opened public testimony. There were no witness registration cards for SB 1 and SJR 1.

 

The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Hinojosa moved that SB 1 be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass. The motion carried with a record vote of 10 ayes, 1 nay, 0 present not voting, and 4 absent.

 

Senator Hinojosa moved that SJR 1 be reported favorably to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass. The motion carried with a record vote of 10 ayes, 1 nay, 0 present not voting, and 4 absent.

 

There being no further business, at 5:00 PM Senator Williams moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
