Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Nominations was held on Friday, June 14, 2013, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.016, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 8:30 AM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

The following members arrived after the roll was called: Senator Fraser and Senator Garcia.

 

Senator Watson was recognized to introduce Commissioner Julia Rathgeber, nominated as the Commissioner of Insurance, to the members of the committee.

 

The following Senators offered comments of support:  Senator Campbell, Senator Fraser, Senator Garcia, Chairman Hegar, Senator Nelson, and Senator Watson.

 

Commissioner Rathgeber answered questions from the members of the committee.

 

Senator Watson moved that the committee vote to approve the nomination of Julia Jeffrey Rathgeber as the Commissioner of Insurance.  The motion carried with a record vote of 6 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent.

 

Senator Hegar moved that the committee vote to approve the nominations of the individuals to the following entity: Lower Colorado River Authority. The motion carried with a record vote of 6 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent.

 

There being no further business, at 8:54 AM Senator Hegar moved that the committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
