Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Redistricting, Select was held on Saturday, June 8, 2013, in the Houston, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 11:04 AM.

The clerk called roll. A quorum was present and the following business was transacted:

Representative Gene Wu and Representative Rick Miller were present at the hearing.

Senator Ellis was present and made remarks.

Members of the committee gave opening remarks.

The chair opened public testimony on SB 1, SB 2, SB 3, and SB 4. Witnesses testifying and registering on the bills are shown on the attached list.

Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee was present and made remarks.

Congressman Al Green was present, made remarks, and submitted a letter addressed to Governor Rick Perry from members of the Congressional Black Caucus, into the official record.

At 12:50 PM Senator Uresti assumed the chair.

At 1:10 PM the committee recessed for ten minutes.

At 1:22 PM Senator Seliger resumed the chair.

After all witnesses were heard, the chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.

There being no further business, at 2:09 PM Senator Seliger moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
