Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Transportation was held on Wednesday, September 17, 2014, in the Capitol Extension, Room E1.016, at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 9:00 AM. The following business was transacted:
The Committee heard updates from the following invited agencies:
Texas Department of Transportation
Texas Department of Motor Vehicles
Texas Department of Public Safety
The Committee heard invited and public testimony on the following Interim Charges:
· Examine the anticipated impact increased oil and gas production will continue to have on roadways and bridges. Make recommendations to enhance the safety and infrastructure damaged by truck activity related to oil and gas exploration and production.
· Examine the implementation of SB 1792 (83R), which provides remedies for habitual violators of nonpayment of tolls and makes recommendations for any legislation needed to improve, enhance, and/or complete implementation.
· Study and monitor the state's efforts to protect taxpayers from uninsured motorists. Make recommendations to improve compliance of maintaining motor vehicle liability insurance and registration.
All witnesses are shown on the attached list.
There being no further business, at 12:20 PM Senator Nichols moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
