Pursuant to Rule 1, Texas House Rules and pursuant to Rule 11.03, Texas Senate Rules, a public hearing of the Joint Committee on Aging was held on Thursday, October 2, 2014, in the Betty King Committee Room at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 11:15 AM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

 

The chair opened public testimony.  Witnesses testifying and registering on the bill are shown on the attached list. 

 

The following persons provided invited testimony to the committee:

·      Jon Weizenbaum, Commissioner, Department of Aging and Disability Services

·      Patty Ducayet, State Long-Term Care Ombudsman

·      Dr. Ronald DeVere, Alzheimer’s Association, Capital of Texas Chapter

·      Maurice Pitts, Past President, Texas Association of Regional Councils

·      Yvette Lugo, President, Texas Association of Area Agencies on Aging & Director, Rio Grande Area Agency on Aging

·      Deborah Moore, Director of Harris County, Bureau Chief, Harris County Area Agency on Aging

 

The chair moved that the public testimony be closed; without objection, it was so ordered.
