Amend CSHB 11 by adding the following appropriately numbered SECTION to the bill and renumbering the remaining SECTIONS of the bill as appropriate:

SECTION ____. Subchapter A, Chapter 411, Government Code, is amended by adding Section 411.0167 to read as follows:

Sec. 411.0167. LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS FOR COMMISSIONED OFFICERS ASSIGNED TO TEXAS-MEXICO BORDER REGION. A commissioned officer of the department assigned to a department region that includes counties along the Texas-Mexico border must be fluent in both English and Spanish.
