Amend CSHB 1549 (house committee report) as follows:

(1)  On page 28, strike lines 21 and 22 and substitute the following:

SECTION 35.  Sections 37.203(a) and (b), Education Code, are amended to read as follows:

(2)  Between page 29, line 27, and page 30, line 1, insert the following:

(b)  Members of the board appointed under Subsection (a)(6) [(a)(7)] serve staggered two-year terms, with the terms of the members described by Subsections (a)(6)(A)-(E) [(a)(7)(A)-(E)] expiring on February 1 of each odd-numbered year and the terms of the members described by Subsections (a)(6)(F)-(I) [(a)(7)(F)-(I)] expiring on February 1 of each even-numbered year.  A member may serve more than one term.
