Amend CSHB 1842 (senate committee printing) by adding the following appropriately numbered SECTION to the bill and renumbering subsequent SECTIONS of the bill accordingly:

SECTION ____.  The State Board of Education shall conduct a study to determine, for kindergarten through 12th grade, the length of the instructional day and of the academic year that would be necessary to allow for the completion of the required curriculum identified by the board under Section 28.002, Education Code. Not later than October 1, 2016, the board shall deliver a report containing the results of the study to the governor and the legislature.
