Amend CSSB 11 (committee printing version) as follows:
(1) In SECTION 1 of the bill, in added Section 411.2031, Government Code, add the following appropriately numbered subsection:
( ) This section does not permit a person to possess a concealed handgun, or go with a concealed handgun, on the premises of a clinic or laboratory maintained or operated by an institution of higher education or private or independent institution of higher education if the institution gives effective notice under Section 30.06, Penal Code. In this subsection:
(1) "clinic" means premises on which a patient receives health care services, including psychiatric services, and includes a student health clinic; and
(2) the premises of a hospital or clinic maintained or operated by an institution of higher education or private or independent institution of higher education includes space that is within or physically connected to the hospital or clinic and is used for instruction, academic support, or student services, including a classroom, laboratory, or study facility, and any adjoining corridor, lobby, or stairway.
(2) In SECTION 4 of the bill, in amended Section 46.03, Penal Code, add the following appropriately numbered subsection:
( ) Subsection (a)(1)(B) does not permit a person to possess a concealed handgun, or go with a concealed handgun, on the premises of a clinic or laboratory maintained or operated by an institution of higher education or private or independent institution of higher education if the institution gives effective notice under Section 30.06. In this subsection:
(1) "clinic" means premises on which a patient receives health care services, including psychiatric services, and includes a student health clinic; and
(2) the premises of a hospital or clinic maintained or operated by an institution of higher education or private or independent institution of higher education includes space that is within or physically connected to the hospital or clinic and is used for instruction, academic support, or student services, including a classroom, laboratory, or study facility, and any adjoining corridor, lobby, or stairway.
