Amend CSSB 11 (committee printing version) as follows:
(1) In SECTION 1 of the bill, in added Section 411.2031, Government Code, add the following appropriately numbered subsection:
( ) This section does not permit a person to possess a concealed handgun, or go with a concealed handgun, on the premises maintained or operated by an institution of higher education or private or independent institution of higher education, if the institution gives effective notice under Section 30.06, used for:
(1) a national biocontainment laboratory;
(2) a child care facility;
(3) a clinic or laboratory, where:
(i) "clinic" means premises on which a patient receives health care services, including psychiatric services, and includes a student health clinic; and
(ii) the premises of a hospital or clinic maintained or operated by an institution of higher education or private or independent institution of higher education includes space that is within or physically connected to the hospital or clinic and is used for instruction, academic support, or student services, including a classroom, laboratory, or study facility, and any adjoining corridor, lobby, or stairway;
(4) the provision of healthcare services to adults or juveniles who are confined in a correctional facility;
(5) a dormitory or other residential building;
(6) the office of a temporary or permanent faculty member; and
(7) a court or used as a hearing room for a tribunal considering rights or privileges of a student or employee.
(2) In SECTION 4 of the bill, in amended Section 46.03, Penal Code, add the following appropriately numbered subsection:
( ) Subsection (a)(1)(B) does not permit a person to possess a concealed handgun, or go with a concealed handgun, on the premises maintained or operated by an institution of higher education or private or independent institution of higher education, if the institution gives effective notice under Section 30.06, used for:
(1) a national biocontainment laboratory;
(2) a child care facility;
(3) a clinic or laboratory, where:
(i) "clinic" means premises on which a patient receives health care services, including psychiatric services, and includes a student health clinic; and
(ii) the premises of a hospital or clinic maintained or operated by an institution of higher education or private or independent institution of higher education includes space that is within or physically connected to the hospital or clinic and is used for instruction, academic support, or student services, including a classroom, laboratory, or study facility, and any adjoining corridor, lobby, or stairway;
(4) the provision of healthcare services to adults or juveniles who are confined in a correctional facility;
(5) a dormitory or other residential building;
(6) the office of a temporary or permanent faculty member; and
(7) a court or used as a hearing room for a tribunal considering rights or privileges of a student or employee.
