Committee Report (Unamended) |
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE
In late 2014, Governor Perry signed an executive order requiring all state agencies to use the federal E-verify program. The E-verify program is an online system that compares information about a new employee's identification to data from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security and Social Security Administration to ensure employment eligibility. H.B. 183 seeks to codify this executive order.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE IMPACT
It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly create a criminal offense, increase the punishment for an existing criminal offense or category of offenses, or change the eligibility of a person for community supervision, parole, or mandatory supervision.
|
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
It is the committee's opinion that rulemaking authority is expressly granted to the Texas Workforce Commission in SECTION 1 of this bill.
|
