BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE
Given the evolution of modern technologies, interested parties contend that referring to a telegraph in statutory provisions relating to warrants has become archaic, irrelevant, and unnecessary. H.B. 2300 seeks to address this issue.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE IMPACT
It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly create a criminal offense, increase the punishment for an existing criminal offense or category of offenses, or change the eligibility of a person for community supervision, parole, or mandatory supervision.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency, or institution.

ANALYSIS
H.B. 2300 amends and repeals certain provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure to eliminate a telegraph transmission as a method to communicate certain information relating to arrest under warrant.
H.B. 2300 repeals the following provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure: · Article 15.10 · Article 15.11 · Article 15.12 · Article 15.13
