AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

Interested parties note that state law does not expressly allow for a non-historic area within a historic site to be named after a donor or other benefactor. The parties contend that such naming should be allowed in certain cases. H.B. 2332 seeks to address this issue.

H.B. 2332 amends current law relating to the naming by the Texas Historical Commission of certain areas without historical value that are on historic sites.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

Rulemaking authority is expressly granted to the Texas Historical Commission in SECTION 1 (Section 442.030, Government Code) of this bill.

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

SECTION 1. Amends Subchapter A, Chapter 442, Government Code, by adding Section 442.030, as follows:

Requires THC to adopt rules to implement this section.

SECTION 2. Requires THC to adopt rules necessary to implement Section 442.030, Government Code, as added by this Act, as soon as practicable after the effective date of this Act.

SECTION 3. Effective date: September 1, 2015.
