AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

In 2009, the Texas Legislature approved S.B. 175 to limit the total percent of an incoming class that must be admitted to institutions of higher education under the automatic admissions law.  The bill specifically addressed rising enrollment numbers at The University of Texas at Austin under the statewide automatic admissions policy.  The 83rd Legislature set the Sunset date for this provision to the 2017-2018 academic year.

H.B. 2472 repeals the Sunset provision for limited automatic admission to The University of Texas at Austin, as stated in Section 51.803(a-3) of the Education Code.

H.B. 2472 amends current law relating to the automatic admission of undergraduate students to The University of Texas at Austin.
