AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

 

S.B. 679 enables the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport Board to post its meeting notices electronically at its administrative offices.

 

S.B. 679 amends current law relating to public meetings of joint airport boards.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1. Amends Section 551.001(3), Government Code, to redefine "governmental body."

 

SECTION 2. Amends Subchapter C, Chapter 551, Government Code, by adding Section 551.0501, as follows:

 

Sec. 551.0501. JOINT BOARD: PLACE OF POSTING NOTICE. (a) Defines "electronic bulletin board."

 

(b) Requires a joint board created under Section 22.074 (Joint Board), Transportation Code, to post notice of each meeting on a physical or electronic bulletin board at a place convenient to the public in the board's administrative offices.

 

SECTION 3. Amends the heading to Section 551.056, Government Code, to read as follows:

 

Sec. 551.056. ADDITIONAL POSTING REQUIREMENTS FOR CERTAIN MUNICIPALITIES, COUNTIES, SCHOOL DISTRICTS, JUNIOR COLLEGE DISTRICTS, DEVELOPMENT CORPORATIONS, AUTHORITIES, AND JOINT BOARDS.

 

SECTION 4. Amends Section 551.056(b), Government Code, to include a joint board created under Section 22.074, Transportation Code, among governmental bodies and economic development corporations required to concurrently post notice of a meeting on the Internet website of the governmental body or economic development corporation.

 

SECTION 5. Makes application of this Act prospective.

 

SECTION 6. Effective date: upon passage or September 1, 2015.
