AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

 

S.B. 1228 amends the Alcoholic Beverage Code to allow children of Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) employees to be employed by businesses that hold a license or permit issued by TABC.

 

S.B. 1228 amends current law relating to authorizing children of Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission employees to be employed by holders of licenses or permits issued by the commission.

 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.

 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

 

SECTION 1. Amends Section 5.05, Alcoholic Beverage Code, by adding Subsections (a-1) and (a-2), as follows:

 

(a-1)  Authorizes a child of a Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) employee, notwithstanding any other law, to be employed by the holder of a license or permit issued under this code.

 

(a-1) Requires TABC to establish an agency policy requiring employees to disclose information regarding their children's employment by a holder of a license or permit issued under this code.

 

SECTION 2. Effective date: September 1, 2015.
