AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

S.B. 945, 83rd Legislature, Regular Session, 2013, helped hospital patients understand the level of training for those providing direct patient care. Specifically, the bill required a health care provider in a hospital to wear a photo identification badge clearly stating the provider's name, department, and license type.

It is the intent of S.B. 1753 that patients are promptly and clearly informed of the training and qualifications of their health care provider.

C.S.S.B. 1753 makes changes to the effective date by delaying its implementation for two years. It also clarifies language to comply with Nursing Practice Act.

C.S.S.B. 1753 amends current law relating to the identification requirements of certain health care providers associated with a hospital.
