AUTHOR'S / SPONSOR'S STATEMENT OF INTENT

S.B. 2019 makes two changes to the composition of the Texas Violent Gang Task Force (task force). First, it replaces the members from the Texas Youth Commission and Texas Juvenile Probation Commission with two representatives from the Texas Juvenile Justice Department. This reflects the merger of the two agencies into the Juvenile Justice Department in 2011.

Second, it adds a representative from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC), which has been requested by both the TABC and the task force.

S.B. 2019 amends current law relating to the composition of the Texas Violent Gang Task Force.

This bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency.
